Me, You, and Everyone at MassArt

Me, You, and Everyone at MassArt | Information Architecture I | 2022-2023

The "MYE: Me, You, & Everyone We Know" project at MassArt involves students collaborating to gather, analyze, and visualize data from their peers to create compelling narratives that reflect student experiences. Over the course of three weeks, students work on mid-fidelity sketches that explore various strategies for presenting information, such as bird’s-eye views, sequential storytelling, and interactive approaches. Students must clean, organize, and interpret the collected data, transforming it into meaningful stories that can provoke thought and invite diverse interpretations from their audience. This hands-on process combines creative practice with academic research, encouraging students to explore the potential of data visualization to influence public understanding.

The project is divided into three phases: building a database, exploring design approaches, and finalizing the infographic or visual presentation. Students are tasked with creating a polished, provocative, and purposeful final output, whether it's a poster, video, or performance, that showcases their understanding of information design. Throughout the assignment, they are encouraged to research relevant precedents in the field and take risks in testing different visual vocabularies. The project culminates in a fully developed visual narrative, backed by research and documentation, that demonstrates both technical skill and conceptual depth.
