Listen Up! | Information Architecture I | 2022-2023

The "Listen Up!" project challenges students to enhance the user experience on existing listening platforms by analyzing their strengths and identifying areas for improvement. Students focus on one of seven contexts, such as playlists, community sharing, discovery, visuals, or customization, and explore how these features could be refined to create a better user experience. Through user interviews and research into successful online fields like gaming and media, students pinpoint specific areas of improvement and design features that address user pain points. The project emphasizes human-centered design, encouraging participants to develop interactive prototypes that clarify and enhance the listening experience.

Throughout the process, students create wireframes, design visual elements, and build an interactive prototype, which they user-test and refine based on feedback. Deliverables include an animated interactive interface prototype and a narrated video walkthrough explaining the design process and user journey. In addition, students document their progress through a case study website that showcases research, personas, journey maps, and screen iterations. This project fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas through motion and interactivity.
